How You Can Get Involved

There is nothing more frustrating than the feeling parents get when they are not connecting with their kids. But think about it from the kids’ standpoint…society almost encourages them to dismiss the very people who love them the most. So they reach out to others – or are impacted by others – more often than we want to admit.
(Yes, there are parents who could do better…but couldn’t we all?)

CLAY Team Sports offers several volunteer positions that support parents in their efforts to mold the lives of their children. Whether you lean toward the “sport” side of sports ministry, or the “ministry” side of sports ministry, your participation is critical. Together, we can create an environment that surrounds kids with Christian adults on and off the field of play.

Can they count on you? - Read more about volunteer roles in CLAY

We Need Your Help!

All week long we’ve been breaking down the new CLAY Team Sports Ministry site as a way of launching our second decade of ministry. And like that very first gathering of people who embraced the vision of a Christian League of Athletics for Youth, your commitment to do your part is critical to CLAY’s continued success.

You can start by using the final two menu items on CLAYTeamSports.com – Invite and Give.

Join CLAYTeamSports.com!

Invite!

Invite your friends, family, colleagues, coworkers, and even people you are just getting to know to join you on the CLAY Team Sports network. We now have the ability to plant CLAY in any community with the right local team, so you can reach out to those outside Western Pennsylvania.

Invite Others to Join CLAY!

Give!

Whether you take advantage of our online giving to support CLAY directly, donate to your church to defray team sponsor fees, or give of your time as a coach, official or other volunteer, give cheerfully and give completely. No matter how you give, know that you will positively impact the lives of kids. They may not say “thank you” with their words, but they will with their actions both on and off the field of play.

CLAY Programs & Resources

CLAY for Kids

CLAY Camps. Since 2010, CLAY has hosted a sports camp in Jefferson County, NY, based out of the Reformed Church of the Thousand Isles by taking a team of youth and sports ministry professionals there each summer. Because the team can’t travel every week, the program is undergoing development to make it a “camp in a box” where churches can incorporate CLAY Sports Camps into their summer programming. CLAY Camps will be available starting the summer of 2015.
Anticipated cost is $25 per camper.

CLAY Basketball. Since 2004, CLAY Basketball has been a staple of winter youth sports in Erie County, PA and expanded into Crawford County, PA in 2010. Thousands of kids have recited the Athlete’s Pledge over the years prior to taking the court, and we are ready to offer CLAY Basketball to any community. CLAY Basketball for Kids has three divisions:

  • “Fun”damental (grades 1-2 with coed teams)
  • Developmental (grades 3-4 with separate boys and girls teams)
  • Competition (grades 5-6 with separate boys and girls teams)

NEW FEES STARTING WITH NEXT SEASON: Team Sponsor Fee – $50; Player Fee – $35.

CLAY for Youth

CLAY Basketball. When CLAY was launched in 2004, it was the first sports ministry program to offer junior high and high school divisions. CLAY Basketball for Youth continues that tradition with separate boys and girls divisions for junior high and senior high.
NEW FEES STARTING WITH NEXT SEASON: Team Sponsor Fee – $50; Player Fee – $35.

CLAY Ultimate. New this year (and registration happening now!) is CLAY Ultimate. With rules closer to the original game of basketball than today’s basketball, CLAY Ultimate gives youth groups a reason to stick together all summer long. CLAY Ultimate has coed divisions for junior high and senior high, and will consider a third “mixed” division of both junior and senior high if there is enough interest.
Fees: Team Sponsor Fee – $50; Player Fee – $25.

Athlete’s Pledge & CLAY Code

Athlete’s Pledge

Way back in the early days of CLAY Team Sports Ministry, we penned the Athlete’s Pledge. Since, thousands of children and youth have recited this simple personal challenge to live for something greater than themselves. The Athlete’s Pledge has also been delivered in front of fans of the Erie SeaWolves and Erie BayHawks – two minor league pro (baseball and basketball, respectively) teams who have shown a tremendous amount of support for CLAY.

If you’re an athlete – young or old; current or former – we invite you to “take the pledge.” - Take the Athlete’s Pledge!

CLAY Code

A few years ago, it was suggested we adopt a “fan code” that was used by another youth sports league. After reading its “don’t do this, don’t do that” recitations, we felt we needed something positive, engaging, and able to be taken out of the gym and into every day life. The CLAY Code was borne, and first taken to fans at a Fun Division Finale hosted by the Erie BayHawks at the Erie Civic Center.

If you’re a fan, we invite you to embrace the CLAY Code whether you’re at the game, at work or just hanging out with your friends. - Embrace the CLAY Code!

New Site, New Structure, New Sport

New Site!

There’s no fancy way to say it… http://ift.tt/1mxCR52 is back! But we’re not abandoning our desire to “pray, grow and serve together”. Prayer, spiritual growth and community service are now embedded into CLAY in a whole new way. There’s a lot to the new site, and we’ll be covering those items over the next several days.

Join the CLAY Network!

New Structure!

Over the course of the last couple of years, we found our individual player registration did not work as intended. We also realized our player costs were getting too high, and had become a barrier to entry for many parents.

Therefore, we have separated team sponsorship from player registration and changed our fee structure.

Team Sponsorship – $50/team. Churches will continue to be team sponsors, and kids from the same church will continue to be placed on teams sponsored by their churches.

Player Registration – $25/player (Ultimate); $35/player (Basketball). All players will register individually through our website and be assigned to teams based on their church affiliation first and school/neighborhood second.

CLAY Ultimate (summer) and CLAY Basketball (winter) will be known as our “signature” sports, and effective immediately, the CLAY Team Sports Ministry “any sport, any community” platform can be applied to any new or existing youth sports program across the country.

Bring CLAY to Your Community!

New Sport!

We’ve been talking about it for a long time, but CLAY Ultimate is here! We’re ready to take registrations for CLAY Ultimate summer eagues in Cape May County (NJ), Jefferson County (NY), Marion County (OH), Crawford County (PA and Erie County (PA)! CLAY Ultimate is for junior high and high school students; CLAY Basketball will continue to offer divisions for grades 1-12.

Register for CLAY Ultimate!
